2023 Taiwan Economic and Trade Delegation Visited France in September

The “Taiwan Economic and Trade Delegation to France” organized by CIECA made the visit from September 9 to 17, 2023. Mr. Hsu Tsao-Hua, Vice President of Taiwan Power Company served as the chief delegate and Mr. Eric Chang, Chairman and President of Glory Technology Service Inc. as the deputy head of the delegation which was composed of 23 members. CIECA and French MEDEF International held “the 27th Taiwan-France Economic Cooperation Conference” on September 12, 2023. The Conference focused on discussing “Energy Safety” and “Renewable Energy.” The speakers included Mr. Ma Wei-Fu, Deputy Director of Taiwan Power Company; Mr. Henry Tseng, Director of Asustek Computer; Mr. Nicolas Robin, Global Scale Leader, Energy Center of Excellence, Intel; Ms. Chang Ming-Lung, General Manager of French EDF Renewables in Taiwan; Mr. Terence Tu, Executive Vice President of AcBel Polytech Inc.; and Mr. Kevin Yang, CIO of Taiya Renewable Energy. In view of Taiwan’s increasing investment in Europe this year, French officials are paying additional attention to interacting with Taiwanese companies. Mr. Thomas Courbe, General Manager of Directorate General for Enterprise, Ministry for the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty; Ms. Marie-Cécile Tardieu, Deputy General Director of Business France; and other important French officials were invited to attend the conference for the first time. During the conference, the French side introduced its investment environment, incentives regulations, green industry bill, etc. in the hope of promoting cooperation between Taiwan and French. The delegation also visited local companies during its trip in France, including EDF, EDF Renewables, Enedis, ATOS, Intel France, Total Energies, Paris-Saclay innovative ecosystem, and Clichy-Batignolles zero carbon emission neighborhood. Through these visits, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of French energy industry’s development and prospect.
