“The 13th Taiwan-Austria Economic Cooperation Conference” co-organized by CIECA and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) was held at Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel Taipei on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The conference was co-chaired by Mr. R. T. Tsai, Senior Consultant of Delta Electronics, Inc. & Executive Board Directors of CIECA and Mr. Hermann Ortner, Director of Austrian Commercial Office. Mr. Chen Chern-Chyi, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs; Mr. Franz Wessig, Director General for Foreign Eco-nomic Relations of Austrian Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy; Mr. Roland Rudorfer, Director of Austrian Office in Taipei; and Ms. Katharine Chang, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Austria were invited to deliver opening remarks respectively. They all wished the conference a complete success. This year the conference focused on “Smart City” and “Green Energy” as main topics, the electric vehicle charging systems and digital trans-formation applications as the secondary topics. The Austrian overall business investment environment was introduced by Director General Franz Wessig. On the theme of “Smart City,” CIECA invited Mr. Leu Jang-Hwa, Director General of the Administration for Digital Industries, Ministry of Digital Affairs, to describe Taiwan's digital technology development, industrial applications, and future trends. Mr. Tino Terraneo, Managing Director of Austrian Technology Corporation GmbH was a keynote speaker from Austrian side. On the topic of “Green Energy,” CIECA invited Dr. Angus Lee, Chairman of Taiwan Green Energy Association to give an overview of Taiwan's green energy industry development and the business opportunities for battery energy storage systems. In addition, CIECA invited Pacific Electric Wire & Cable Co., Ltd., Delta Electronics, Inc. and Amita Technologies Inc. from Taiwanese side as well as Taiwan Neuhold Technology Ltd., Anton Paar Taiwan Co. Ltd., Andritz AG Taiwan Branch, Yara Environmental Technologies GmbH and BDD Holding Co. Ltd. (UNIHA Wasser Technologies GmbH) from Austrian side to participate in the conference. The companies from both sides shared their expertise on Electric Vehicle, Energy Storage, Wastewater Treatment, Cycle Application, Heat Storage, etc.
