CIECA Attended the 13th World Chambers Congress (WCC) Organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)

Mr. Chang Hong-Chia, Vice Chairman of CIECA; Mr. Steven Pan, Chairman of Silks Hotels Group & Executive Board Director of CNAIC; Mr. James S. Chu, Secretary General of CNAIC; and Mr. Chien Chan-Ying, Chief Investment Officer of Taishin Financial Holdings Co., Ltd. went to Geneva, Switzerland to attend the 13th World Chambers Congress organized by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) from June 21 to 23, 2023. The theme of the conference is “Peace and Prosperity through Multilateralism.” The first day’s lecture focused on multilateralism, and how business-men in the 21st century can create peace and prosperity through inter-national trade. At the same time, Mr. Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy, Ukraine, was invited to deliver a speech on “Building a Peaceful Future for Ukraine: Economic Recovery and Multilateral Support.” The topic of the second day focused on innovation; discussions were held in multiple sub-venues. Attendees were free to participate in topics of their interest, including the development of chambers of commerce, digital trade and digital transformation, certificate of origin, and dispute resolution services, etc. The topic of the third day's lecture focused on sustainable development, understanding the responsibility of the supply chain, and business guidelines for energy transition. In addition, CIECA took the opportunity of attending this conference, where many national chambers of commerce gathered, to meet with Ms. Maria Fernanda Garza, Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce, ICC; Mr. John WH Denton AO, Secretary General of the ICC; Mr. Nicolás Uribe, Chair of World Chambers Federation (WCF); and Ms. Rosa Bueno, President of the Lima Chamber of Commerce. Taiwan is looking forward to playing a bigger role through participation in the World Chamber Congress in the future.

Mr. Chang Hong-Chia, Vice Chairman of CIECA, called on Ms. Maria Fernanda Garza, Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce, (ICC) to describe Taiwan's increasingly active role in developing digital economy.

The delegation called on Mr. John WH Denton AO, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris, and invited him to visit Taiwan in his the Asia Tour in this October. The delegation visited with to Ms. Rosa Bueno, President of the Lima Chamber of Commerce and discussed Peru’s digital economy integration, especially in the field of foreign trade. In addition, Ms. Rosa Bueno said that she was planning to visit Taiwan in coming September.
