CIECA Attended the Promotion of Meat Products and Seminar on Trade and Investment Opportunities in Paraguay on February 15, 2023

CIECA Vice Chairman Mike Hong and Secretary General Frank Wu attended the “Promotion of Meat Products and Seminar on Trade and Investment Opportunities in Paraguay” organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 15, 2023. Vice Foreign Minister Alexander Yui and the President Mario Abdo Benitez of Paraguay were invited to deliver speeches. The Seminar invited the Paraguay President Mario Abdo Benitez and First Lady Silvana Lopez Moreira, who both dressed as chefs to present a cooking demonstration and did tasting to promote Paraguayan meat products. The President and the First Lady cooked in front of dozens of potential investors two dishes--Paraguay Formosa Gua Bao and Pesto Paraguayan Filet Dice Beef--to show how Paraguayan meat can be cooked by Taiwanese households as part of their daily diet. Vice Foreign Minister Alexander Yui presented to make the “Mate Pearl Milk Tea,” bringing the perfect combination of the most characteristic drinks of the two countries. During the seminar, Minister Luis Alberto Castiglioni of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay was invited to deliver a speech on “The Market Development and Advantage of Meat in Paraguay” and followed by another of the “Paraguay Investment Environment and Preferential Regulations.” The former presented the advantageous position of the latest meat products in Paraguay which is Taiwan's second-largest source of beef imports, revealing that the meat of Paraguay is very attractive to Taiwan’s market. While the latter introduced the investment ad-vantages and market opportunities in Paraguay, trying to enhance Taiwanese businessmen’s understanding of Paraguay’s investment environment, and help them enter the Mercosur market and further into the huge market of 430 million people in South America through investment in Paraguay. Finally, Mr. Francisco T.H. Chang, Consul General on Home Assignment in the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, MOFA, introduced Taiwan's investment subsidy measures and encouraged Taiwanese businessmen to invest and expand business market in Paraguay.
