2023 Saint Lucia Trade & Investment Promotion Seminar Held on May 24, 2023

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CIECA, the two co-organizer, held the “2023 Saint Lucia Trade & Investment Promotion Seminar” on May 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei. The purpose of the seminar is to strengthen the bilateral economic, investment and industrial exchanges between Taiwan and Saint Lucia, and to familiarize Taiwanese entrepreneurs, investors and government officials with the business environment in Saint Lucia. More than 70 guests and nearly 50 manufacturers attended the seminar. The two sides enjoyed a pleasant exchange of views, having laid a solid foundation for the bilateral political and economic relations in the future. During the seminar, Ms. Lien Yu-Ping, Director General of Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, MOFA; H.E. Ambassador Robert Kennedy Lewis of Saint Lucia to Republic of China (Taiwan); and Mr. Mike Hung, Vice Chairman of CIECA; were invited to deliver remarks respectively. The Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Saint Lusia’s Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Cultural and Information and his team members--Mr. Sidney Darwin Guard, Chairman of Cultural Development Foundation; Ms. Alana Lansiquot, Senior Investment Manager, Invest Saint Lucia; and Ms. Tajam Brown, Marketing Officer, CIP--made presentations to introduce the investment environment and advantages, beautiful natural wonders, tourism and cultural industries of the Saint Lucia. Through these presentations, they tried to attract Taiwanese businessmen to make investment out there to create a win-win situation. At the scene, Mr. Tai Huei-Yuan, Minister on Home Assignment at Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, MOFA, made a presentation on the ”Regulations Governing Financial Assistance to Encourage Business Entrepreneurs to Invest in Countries Having Diplomatic Relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan)” to encourage Taiwanese manufacturers to invest in Saint Lucia. At the end of the seminar, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire was invited to deliver a closing remark. Director General Lien Yu-Ping and Vice Chairman Mike Hung gave Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire gifts of appreciation, drawing a perfect conclusion for the 2023 Saint Lucia Trade & Investment Promotion Seminar.

Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture, and Information was invited to deliver a closing remark.
