Indonesia Night Was Held in Taipei on November 22

The Indonesian Economic and Trade Representative Office in Taipei held an “Indonesia Night-Unity in Diversity, Embracing the Connection” event at the Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei on November 22, 2023. Guests form political and business circles were invited to attend this event. Dr. Roy Chun Lee, Deputy Foreign Minister was the guest of honor on that day. CIECA Chairman Henry Chih-Shang Kao, Secretary General Frank Wu and colleagues were also present. The Indonesia Night provided traditional Indonesian singing and dancing performances. The atmosphere was warm and enjoyable. Mr. Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan, Representative of Indonesian Economic and Trade Office in Taipei, delivered a speech and said that Indonesia has played an active role in international affairs, having served as the G20 presidency in 2022 and the rotating chair of ASEAN in 2023. “It is expected that Indonesia will become the fourth largest economy in the world after China, India, and the United States by 2045. The bi-lateral trades between Taiwan and Indonesia have also grown significantly in the past five years,” Representative Shoffan Shofwan said. Deputy Minister Roy Chun Lee said that more than 16,600 Indonesian students came to Taiwan to study, making it the second largest source of international students in Taiwan. Beyond that, the number of Indonesian migrant workers in Taiwan exceeds 267,000, contributing significantly to Taiwan's economy and making it the largest source of migrant workers. “It is hoped that Taiwan and Indonesia will cooperate with each other in many more fields in the future,” Deputy Foreign Minister Lee noted.
