CIECA Attended the Reception of the 220th Anniversary of the Independence of Haiti on January 11

At the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti to the ROC, CIECA attended the 220th Anniversary of the Independence of Haiti on January 11, 2024. In his speech, H.E. Ambassador Roudy Stanley Penn thanked the Taiwanese government and people for their long-term support to Haiti. During his three-year tour of duty in Taiwan, Ambassador Penn actively promoted the two countries’ exchanges -- through Taiwanese political and business circles’ assistance, too, -- in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education, science, and technology despite the challenges of the pandemic of COVID. He emphasized that the two countries will continue to deepen their friendship based on the values of solidarity, freedom, and cooperation. Vice Minister Remus Li-Kuo Chen of Foreign Affairs was invited to deliver a speech as a distinguished guest. He conveyed sincere congratulations of the government and people of the ROC for the 68th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between ROC and Haiti. “The two countries have worked together for many years in cooperation in areas such as infra-structure, education, agriculture, public health, and women's empowerment and have achieved fruitful results. We also thanked the Haitian government for its firm support for Taiwan's participation in international organizations,” Vice Minister Chen said. Mr. Mike Hung and Mr. Jeff Sun, both Vice Chairmen of CIECA received certificates of appreciation from the Embassy of Haiti to the ROC at the 220th Anniversary of the Independence of Haiti, for thanking them for their contribution to promoting the friendship between Taiwan and Haiti.
