CIECA Chairman Henry Chih-Shang Kao hosted a luncheon at the Regent Hotel for Mr. Jason Lin, National Policy Advisor to the President of the Republic of China; Mr. Richard Lee, President of Taiwanese Business Association of New Zealand; Mr. Jerry Guo, President of Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Oceania; and Ms. Hedy Lee, Director of Asia Pacific Department, CIECA to discuss the business opportunities in Australia and New Zealand and the planning of the 2023 Joint Conference of the Taiwan-New Zealand & New Zealand-Taiwan Business Councils on May 19, 2023. The year of 2023 coincides with the 10th anniversary of the signing of the “Agreement between New Zealand and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu on Economic Cooperation (ANZTEC).” Mr. Richard Lee, President of Taiwanese Business Association of New Zealand said that “Taiwanese Business Association of New Zealand will organize a delegation to visit Taiwan in this September. In addition to participating in the economic joint meeting organized by CIECA and the New Zealand-Taiwan Business Council (NZTBC), it is also planned to hold a “New Zealand Week” in Taiwan to promote New Zealand food and agricultural produce.” Chairman Kao also concurred that “many business opportunities, especially for fresh milk and dairy products in food industry are lying ahead for Taiwan and New Zealand.” Ever since the bilateral meeting be-tween CIECA and the New Zealand-Taiwan Economic Association held in Wellington, New Zealand in 2019, it has been suspended due to the pandemic of Covid 19. It is hoped that after the full opening up of national borders this year, the Taiwan-New Zealand bilateral economic joint meeting will be ressumed for giving the two countries’ businessmen opportunities to have real exchanges and promote New Zealand manufacturers to invest in Taiwan more.
