CIECA Chairman Henry Kao Held a Farewell Luncheon for Dr. Tung Chen-Yuan, the Newly-Appointed ROC Representative to Singapore on May 4, 2023

On behalf of CIECA, Chairman Henry Kao held at Shanghai Pavilion of the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel on May 4 a farewell luncheon in honor of Dr. Tung Chen-Yuan who was appointed as the ROC’s new Representative to Singapore. Representative Tung was ROC’s ex-Minister of Overseas Community Affairs Council, R.O.C.; former Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand; former Advisory Board Member of National Security Council; and former Spokesperson for Executive Yuan. He was also a scholar of international political economy and taught at National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University. Representative Tung who be-came the ROC’s new Representative to Singapore as of May 8. The guests in the luncheon included Mr. Douglas Hsu, Chairman of Singapore Committee of CIECA & Chairman of Far Eastern Group; Mr. Vincent Yang, Senior Vice President of the Department of Overseas Management, Taishin International Bank; Mr. Chaney Ho, Co-founder and Executive Board Director of Advantech; Mr. R. T. Tsai, Senior Consultant of Delta Group Electronics, Inc.; Ms. Tung Li-Chen, Advisor of Chairman’s Office, Far Eastern Group; and Mr. Huang Sheng-Wen, Division Chief, South East Asia Region Institutional Banking of CTBC Bank. Chairman Kao said that “Taiwan and Singapore are very important investment and trade partners for each other, and they are geographically convenient located.” Representative Tung proposed that the two countries should strengthen cooperation on semiconductors, smart agriculture, and biotechnology. During the luncheon, the two sides exchanged views on the investment situation of Singapore and Taiwan in recent years, the important bilateral cooperative industries and the handling of joint economic meetings.
