On August 12, 2026, CIECA Deputy Director Deyun Li of the European Department led her colleagues to meet with Dr. Eva Langerbeck, Chief Representative, German Trade Office in Taipei, to discuss preparations for the 23rd Taiwan-Germany Joint Business Council Meeting, scheduled to take place in Germany on December 1, along with business matchmaking event.
Discussions focused on the three core themes selected for this year's JBC meeting: AI and Semiconductors;
Infrastructure Resilience; and Aerospace and Drones. As for AI and semiconductors, the German side noted that this area remains central to Taiwan-Germany economic cooperation, highlighting the continued growth of the high-tech ecosystem built around ESMC. On infrastructure resilience, Germany noted that it is currently facing challenges in public transit and logistics security, and expressed interest in working with Taiwan to strengthen resilience in these areas. On aerospace and drones, the German side noted that, driven by growing demand for non-red supply chains, German companies are increasingly looking to partner with their Taiwanese counterparts in this space.
