On July 22, 2026, Chairman Joseph Lyu received a delegation from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), led by Mr. HIRATA Tomoyuki, Director General of JBIC's Strategic Research Department (SRD). Deputy Minister Fang-Guan Jan of the National Development Council (NDC) was also invited to join the meeting. As a Japanese policy-based financial institution, JBIC plays an important role in supporting Japan's overseas investment and Japan-U.S. strategic investment.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the tariff issues affecting Taiwan-U.S. and Japan-U.S. trade relations, particularly on national industrial development strategies and their current implementation.
The meeting also touched upon the expansion of corporate investment in the United States, relevant national credit guarantee mechanisms, and potential areas for Taiwan-Japan industrial cooperation.
