Taiwan's Newly-Appointed Representative to Papua New Guinea, Mr. Chen-Yu Chiu, Visited CIECA

On June 8, 2026, Mr. Chen-Yu Chiu, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Surabaya, Indonesia, soon to be Taiwan’s Representative to Papua New Guinea (PNG), paid a courtesy call on CIECA to explore potential economic and trade cooperation opportunities between Taiwan and Papua New Guinea. The visit was hosted by Secretary General Frank Wu along with colleagues from the Asia-Pacific Department. Representatives from Taiwan’s academia and industry with an interest in the PNG market were invited, including the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University GLORIA, Yen & Brothers Enterprise Co., Ltd., EZ4U Enterprise Co., Ltd., and Creation Food Co., Ltd. The discussion focused on bridging local PNG businesses with Taiwanese enterprises across key sectors, including seafood and coffee bean imports, technology partnerships and infrastructure development, in an attempt to drive robust growth on bilateral trade.
