CIECA Chairman Joseph Lyu Hosted a Dinner for the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC), Texas, USA

On the evening of June 1, 2026, CIECA Chairman Joseph Lyu hosted a dinner at Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei, in honor of the delegation of the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC), Texas, USA. The delegation was co-led by Mr. Mark Duval, President of GAACC and Ms. Chiling Tong, President of the National Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (National ACE), whose members included another ten senior business executives and government representatives from Austin and Houston, Texas. Chairman Lyu stated that Taiwan and Texas have long maintained a close and stable economic and trade relationship. In recent years, Texas has even become one of the most important states for Taiwanese companies investing in the U.S. especially in the fields of semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and ICT. In this regard, Taiwan and State of Texas have demonstrated a high degree of complementarity. “Beyond that, however, building supply chain resilience deeply relies on mutual trust, shared values, and local cooperation,” Chairman Lyu added. In her remarks, Ms. Chiling Tong mentioned Taiwan's key position in the global high-tech industry and supply chain, and thanked Chairman Lyu’s hospitality for hosting the dinner. She expressed her hope that through the Chamber's platform, bilateral business exchanges, investment cooperation, and supply chain integration between Taiwan and Texas could be further deepened. Ms. Tong specially prepared an autographed book of hers and a cap with the White House logo as a gift for Chairman Lyu. President Duval stated that in addition to participating in the COMPUTEX, his visit also served as an envoy of the Mayor of Austin, to convey an important message to deepen and expand cooperation with Taiwan. “The Austin city government, adhering to the "Open for Business" principle, will promote international economic and trade cooperation in a more proactive and strategic manner. The mayor even plans to lead a delegation to Taiwan next year to strengthen exchanges in areas of investment, technological innovation, and supply chain cooperation,” President Duval pinpointed.
