On March 9, 2026, CIECA Chairman Joseph Lyu received a delegation led by Ambassador John Hennessy-Niland, former U.S. Ambassador to Palau and currently the Dean of The Bush School of Government and Public Service at the Texas A&M University. The delegation of 12 members included Monica Bruno Holder, Associate Dean of Texas A&M University; Professor Ming-Chieh Kuo, Director of International Affairs at the College of Social Sciences of National Taiwan University (NTU), as well as students from Texas A&M University. CIECA Secretary General Frank Wu, Directors Flora Chu and Tito Tang, Secretary Lun-chia Chang, and other colleagues were also present to meet with the delegation. During the meeting, Chairman Lyu expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Hennessy-Niland’s warm hospitality during his visit to Texas last year and shared CIECA’s commitment to serving as a “Team of Teams” in Taiwan, a platform connecting the government and private enterprises. Ambassador Hennessy-Niland also recalled fondly his meeting with Chairman Lyu in Texas last year. Recently, Texas A&M University and the College of Social Sciences at NTU signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to actively promote the “Most Valuable Partnership (MVP)” initiative, in which a multi-year plan is projected for hosting a large-scale annual conference in Taiwan to further deepen bilateral collaboration on higher education. Moreover, Ambassador Hennessy-Niland and CIECA exchanged views on how to strengthen Taiwan–U.S. dialogue in key areas such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, energy security, and supply chain resilience through collaboration among industry, government, and academics. Both sides expressed their expectation to further enhance linkages between academia and industry, and to foster a stable and prosperous Taiwan-U.S. partnership.
