On January 27, 2026, CIECA Chairman Joseph Lyu hosted a welcome luncheon at Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei for the US-Taiwan Business Council (USTBC) delegation led by Chairman Keith Krach and President Rupert Hammond-Chambers. The delegation included representatives from companies such as IBM, Lockheed Martin Global, and Qualcomm, bringing forth vibrant interactions among the guests. USTBC is an American non-profit association dedicated to deepening economic and commercial ties between the U.S. and Taiwan. It is committed to providing its members with business intelligence and strategic consulting on Taiwan’s political and economic landscape for promoting US trade and investment relations with Taiwan across the sectors of semiconductors, defense, AI, and ICT. During the luncheon, CIECA Chairman Joseph Lyu reviewed the key milestones in the Taiwan-U.S. economic cooperation in 2025, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with USTBC in May to actively develop the third-place cooperation, and USTBC’s serving as a supportive driving force for the Taiwan–Philippines Co-prosperity Initiative in August. USTBC Chairman Keith Krach emphasized that “economic security is one important dimension of national security. Taiwan presents a paradigm of freedom, without which there will be no innovation, prosperity and stability.” The luncheon not only highlighted the expanding commercial partnership between Taiwan and the U.S. but also stood as a testament to the profound friendship between the two sides
