Dr. Joseph Lyu, Chairman of CIECA, attended the “4th Impact Asia Alliance Summit 2025” held in Tokyo on October 2, 2025. On that evening, he made a keynote speech on “Critical Technologies at Critical Moments, Critical Islands,” in which he explained how Taiwan has grown into a hub for manufacturing and R&D, not only becoming an indispensable part of the global high-tech industries, but also playing an indispensable and important role as human history enters a new critical juncture.
Chairman Lyu particularly highlighted the deep cooperation between Taiwan and Japan, indicating that Japanese companies supply nearly half of Taiwan’s semiconductor materials and about 30% of its equipment, forming a tightly integrated industrial chain between the two sides. With TSMC opening a plant in Kumamoto, Taiwan’s banking sector also set up offices in Fukuoka to facilitate financial support, further promoting bilateral industrial clustering and financial cooperation. “Taiwan, grounded in the core values of trust, democracy, and technology, continues to advance open and sustainable international economic cooperation, demonstrating its vital strategic significance on the global stage,” he emphasized.
