CIECA Hosted a Banquet for Romanian Parliamentary Delegation

On the evening of August 19, Secretary General Frank Wu attended, on Chairman Joseph Lyu’s behalf, a welcome banquet hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister Amb. François Chihchung Wu. During the banquet, a briefing was made by Secretary General Wu on CIECA work and he engaged in discussions with the Romanian parliamentary delegation. On August 21, Chairman Lyu officially received the delegation at the Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei. Joining the exchange of views were Mr. Richard Yeh, Founding Chairman of the Taiwan International Logistics and Supply Chain Association, and Mr. Paul Ou, Chairman of BORETECH Resource Recovery Engineering CO., LTD. CIECA Deputy Secretary General Charlie Chiang and Director Tito Tang also attended the meeting. Chairman Lyu warmly welcomed the Romanian delegates and described the role and mission of CIECA in helping foster Taiwan’s economic and trade relations worldwide. He encouraged deeper bilateral cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, automotive, bicycles, ICT, and renewable energy. Chairman Lu also introduced the invited Taiwanese business representatives to promote direct engagement with Romanian parliamentarians. Senator Cristian Ghinea, Head of the Romanian delegation, expressed sincere appreciation for the reception and noted that the delegates represent four political parties which form Romania’s new coalition government, demonstrating their strong interest in advancing ties with Taiwan. He looked forward to further cooperation facilitated by CIECA. Dr. Yeh emphasized that Taiwan’s e-commerce sector has grown rapidly alongside advancements in cold chain logistics, enabling global distribution more cost-effective. He expressed hope for future collaboration between Taiwan and Romania in this area. Mr. Ou introduced his company’s commitment to circular economy practices and showcased the products such as recycled polyester fiber, composite fibers, and food-grade rPET pellets used in textiles, packaging, sanitary products, and automotive interiors. Deputy Secretary General Chiang shared insights on Taiwan’s UAV industry, highlighting the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center in Chiayi and its role in advancing agricultural technology, environmental monitoring, logistics, and disaster response. He expressed interest in furthering UAV cooperation between Taiwan and Romania. Following the presentations, Romanian Senator Sorin Moise and Mr. Constantin Damov, Chairman of the Romania–Taiwan Association, engaged in enthusiastic discussions with the Taiwanese side, focusing on UAV applications in agriculture and Romania’s current circular economy landscape. The exchanges were dynamic and fruitful.
