The 17th Joint Meeting between CIECA, Taiwan and SBF, Singapore Was Held

The 17th Joint Meeting between Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA), Taiwan and Singapore Business Federation (SBF) was held on June 24, 2025 at Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel, Taipei. The Singapore delegation composed of 25 persons was led by Mr. Lim Him Chuan, DBS Group Singapore Country Head and Group Executive. It was first time for SBF to organize a delegation to Taiwan since the outbreak of COVID pandemic. The meeting was co-chaired by Chairman Alex C.C. Chien, Singapore Committee, CIECA, Taiwan and Chunghwa Telecom and Mr. Lim Him Chuan. The participants from both sides were about 110 persons. The meeting started with the remarks by Chairman Joseph Jye-Cherng Lyu, CIECA, Taiwan. He emphasized that Singapore could support Taiwan to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). “If Taiwan could join the CPTPP, it would strengthen the global supply chain connectivity, especially in high-tech and digital sectors,” Chairman Lyu said. Mr. Yip Wei Kiat, Trade Representative, Singapore Trade Office in Taipei delivered greeting remarks. Dr. Liu, Da-Nien, Director, The Regional Development Study Center, Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) was invited as a keynote speaker to make a presentation on “Linking the Future: Regional Strategic Cooperation through the Semiconductor Supply Chain under the CPTPP.” The topics of the meeting covered Finance, Digitalization and Green & Sustainable Developments.
