Belgium Office, Taipei Visited CIECA

On the morning of January 23, 2025, Mr. Matthieu Branders, Director of the Belgian Office in Taipei, accompanied by Deputy Director Mr. Cédric Schampers and colleagues, paid a visit to Mr. Joseph Jye-Cherng Lyu, Chairman of CIECA. Mr. Branders began by congratulating Chairman Lyu on his election as the new chairman. Highlighting Chairman Lyu’s personal background and strong connections with Belgium, he expressed confidence in CIECA’s ability to further enhance Taiwan-Belgium economic and trade relations under his leadership. Additionally, Mr. Branders extended a sincere invitation to Chairman Lyu to serve as a judge for the “Belgium-Taiwan Business Award,” an initiative aimed at fostering collaboration and creating new business opportunities between Taiwanese and Belgian enterprises. Chairman Lyu expressed his gratitude and noted that past Taiwan-Belgium exchanges had largely focused on economic and trade matters. He shared his hopes for future efforts to expand into other areas, such as culture and education. Regarding the invitation to serve as a judge, he expressed deep honor and accepted the offer on the spot. During the meeting, both sides dis-cussed topics and itinerary arrangements for the delegation visit to Belgium scheduled for June this year. To conclude, Chairman Lyu shared his past experiences and interactions with Belgium, contributing to a warm and cordial atmosphere.
