In conjunction with the 2024 Canada-Taiwan Economic Consultations (CTEC), Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Global Affairs Canada co-chaired the “Taiwan-Canada Supply Chain Partnership Networking Reception” at Palais de Chine Hotel on December 5, 2024. International Trade Administration, MOEA was the initiator and CIECA the co-sponsor.
The governments of Taiwan and Canada jointly adopted the “Collaborative Framework on Supply Chains Resilience” and created four major areas of cooperation on December 6, 2023. In order to enable enterprises to make good use of this “public-private collaboration platform,” CIECA co-sponsored the “Taiwan-Canada Supply Chain Partnership Networking Reception” on the evening of December 5.
Mr. Chen Chern-Chyi, Deputy Minister, MOEA; Mr. Weldon Epp, Assistant Deputy Minister, Global Affairs Canada; Mr. Joseph Jye-Cherng Lyu, Chairman of CIECA; Mr. Richard Lee, Chairman of TEEMA; and Mr. Anthony van Dyck, Director of Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (CCCT) were invited to deliver remarks respectively.
To fully demonstrate the high-level commitment to working together by governments and business communities of Taiwan and Canada, attendees also included Dr. Harry Ho-Jen Tseng, Representative of Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Canada; Mr. James Stafford Nickel, Executive Director of Canadian Trade Office in Taipei; and Ms. Susan Chi-Chuan Hu, Deputy Director General, International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).
In addition, representatives of CNAIC, TAITRA, THFCP, CIER, TIER, and other Taiwanese important industry associations as well as experts from academic research also attended this event. The atmosphere was warm. More than 150 distinguished guests gathered together to promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
