The 22nd Taiwan-Germany Joint Business Council Meeting Was Held on November 12

CIECA, the German Economic Office in Taipei, and the Taiwan Committee of German Business co-hosted “the 22nd Taiwan-Germany Joint Business Council Meeting” on the morning of November 12 at the Taipei International Convention Center. The said Meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Chin Chi-Yuan, Executive Board Director of CIECA and Chairman of Silicon Touch Technology Inc. and Mr. Dirk Sänger, Managing Partner, C. Melchers GmbH & Co. and Co-Chairman, Taiwan-Germany Joint Business Council. Mr. Chen Chern-Chyi, R.O.C. Deputy Economic Minister and Mr. Udo Philipp, State Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action were invited to deliver remarks respectively. Ms. Susan Chi-Chuan Hu, Deputy Director General of International Trade Administration (MOEA) and Dr. Jörg Polster, Director General of German Institute in Taipei were also invited to attend the event. About 120 representatives from industries and senior officials from both Taiwan and Germany were present. The atmosphere was lively. This Meeting set up a Moderated Discussion Round and a Corporate Panel Discussion to conduct in-depth discussions on “Creating a German-Taiwanese Semiconductor Ecosystem.” The expert discussion was moderated by Dr. Nicole Renvert, Managing Director of International Markets, German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr. Jun Gu, VP of Corporate Strategy & Global BD, Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, PSMC and Dr. John Lee, Managing Director of Merck Group in Taiwan were invited to share enterprise’s practical experience in attracting talents and strengthening supply chain resilience. The corporate panel discussion was co-chaired by Dr. Eva Langerbeck, Executive Director & Chief Delegate, German Trade Office in Taipei and Mr. C.Y. Huang, Chairman of FCC Partners. Mr. John Chen, General Manager of Topco Scientific Co. Ltd.; Mr. Vincent Liu, President & CEO of LCY Group; Mr. Chee-How Tan, Managing Director of Infineon Taiwan; and Mr. Jürgen Lindenberg, former CEO of Lindy-Electronik GmbH were invited to present their views on the experiences and challenges in the development of Taiwan's semiconductor industry.
