The 40th Taiwan-Sweden Joint Business Council Meeting Was Held on October 16

CIECA and Business Sweden co-hosted “the 40th Taiwan-Sweden Joint Business Council Meeting” at the Grand Hyatt Taipei on October 16, 2024. The Meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Alex C.C. Chien, Chairman of Taiwan-Sweden Economic Cooperation Committee, CIECA (Chairman and CEO of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd.) and Mr. Mikael Bäck, Chairman of Sweden-Taiwan Economic Cooperation Committee (Vice President & Corporate Officer of Technology & Strategy Unit of Ericsson). Mr. Ho Chin-Tsang, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs, R.O.C. and Mr. Håkan Jevrell, Swedish State Secretary to Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade were invited to deliver remarks respectively. Mr. Klement Ruey-Sheng Gu, Representative of Taipei Mission in Sweden and Ms. Margot Helena Elisabeth Reitberger, Representative of The Swedish Trade & Invest Council in Taipei also attended the said event. This Meeting focused on the two core topics of “Smart & Sustainable Healthcare” and “Semiconductor for Green Growth.” CIECA also invited Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., Compal Electronics Inc., Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Ericsson, AstraZeneca, SHL Medical, Elekta, Sjukhusdirektör, ASSA ABLOY, Camfil, Nefab, NSS Water, Atlas Copco, and AlixLabs to participate in the Meeting. Those companies appointed speakers to share digital transformation experiences. Nearly 200 guests attended the event on site and online. The atmosphere of the event was warm. Two MOUs were signed in the Meeting. One was the MOU on “Cooperation in ESports and Gaming” signed by Chinese Taipei ES-ports and Gaming and the Sweden Game Arena; the other was the MOU on “Cooperation in Life Science/Biotechnology Industry” signed by Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Promotion Office, ROC’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Sweden’s Swecare Foundation. Both MOUs were witnessed by the deputy ministers of both countries, which would further promote meaningful exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Sweden and inject new momentum into the industrial innovation of both parties.
