CIECA Attended the Reception to Celebrate the National Day of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on June 19

At the invitation of Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Taipei, Mr. Henry Chih-Shang Kao, Chairman of CIECA; Mr. Frank Wu, Secretary General of CIECA; Mr. Chin Chi-Yuan, Executive Director of Board, CIECA; Mr. Tito Tang, Director of CIECA, and other CIECA colleagues were invited to attend the Reception of Celebrating the National Day of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at the Far Eastern Shangri-La Hotel in Taipei on the evening of June 19, 2024. The reception has been held in Taiwan for the second time in five years since 2019. Mr. Lex Kaufhold, Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office in Taipei delivered a welcome speech. In response, Mr. Remus Li-Kuo Chen, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs de-livered a congratulatory message. Diplomatic representatives of foreign countries in Taiwan and many distinguished guests from private sector were present in the reception. Executive Director Lex Kaufhold said that “Ever since he arrived in Taiwan last year to take up the post of Executive Director, he has felt the kindness of the Taiwanese people and enjoyed the delicious food.” “However, I have been even more amazed by the culture and Taiwan’s natural landscape. Because of this, I may never go back to Luxembourg,” he teased. Then, he said “there are many opportunities for cooperation between Luxembourg and Taiwan in the fields of economy, culture and education, and he is even happier to see the Luxembourg-Taiwan Working Holiday Exchange Program bear fruit since its implementation in 2019.” He believed that this would deepen bilateral understanding and exchanges. Mr. Remus Li-Kuo Chen, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, began his speech by greeting the guests in Luxembourgish and congratulated Grand Duke Henri and his people on Luxembourg’s National Day. Vice Minister Chen said that exchanges between Luxembourg and Taiwan were booming in trade, finance, science, technology, education and other fields. He also expressed his gratitude to Luxembourg for expressing support of Taiwan on international occasions in recent years, including in World Health Assembly (WHA) this year, calling on the World Health Organization (WHO) to include Taiwan in the meeting. Finally, he said that he looked forward to the further development of Taiwan- Luxembourg relations in the future.
