“The 11th Finland-Taiwan Joint Business Council Meeting & Quantum Technology Forum” was grandly held in Taiwan. Finland's top quantum business groups were invited to attend this event and to promote new developments in quantum technology. CIECA and Business Finland co-hosted this grand event at East Gate of Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel, Taipei on May 7, 2024. The Forum was co-sponsored by Taiwan’s Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association (PIDA) and Taiwan Association of Quantum Computing and Information Technology (TAQCIT). The Meeting focused on quantum technology and was co-chaired by Dr. Cho Cheng-Hong, Chairman of Taiwan-Finland Economic Cooperation Committee, CIECA and President of the Institute for Information Indus-try (III) and Ms. Suvi Sundquist, Director of Northeast Asia, Business Finland. Mr. Hsiao Chun, Economic Counsellor of International Trade Administration, MOEA and Mr. Lauri Raunio, Representative of Finland Trade Center were invited to deliver opening remarks. Experts in the quantum field from Taiwan and Finland gave speeches and share their views on quantum technology. More than 100 participants attended this event, and the atmosphere of post-forum interactions was quite lively. This Forum specially invited a six-teen-member Finnish delegation organized by Business Finland to visit Taiwan. Ms. Outi Keski-Äijö, head of Quantum Computing Program at Business Finland shared the overview and future trends of the “Quantum Computing Ecosystem in Finland.” The invited Finnish guests were from the following nine enterprises and research institutes such as IQM, Bluefors, SemiQon, Vexlum, QuantrolO, VTT, Aalto University, University of Jyväskylä, and University of Oulu, whose expertise covered Quantum Computers, full stack developer of quantum hardware, cryogenic measurement systems, Optoelectronic materials, semiconductor processing, super-conducting quantum control, quantum materials, post-quantum cryptography and cybersecurity, etc. The participants from Taiwanese side were heavyweight speakers in the field of quantum research, including Dr. Chen Chii-Dong, Distinguished Research Fellow, Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica; Prof. Goan Hsi-Sheng, Department of Physics, National Taiwan University; and Dr. Hsieh Min-Hsiu, Director, Hon Hai Quantum Computing Research Center, Hon Hai Research Institute. At the meeting, they gave an over-view of quantum research in Taiwan and its future development possibilities. This event has a strong lineup of brains of quantum technology from Taiwan and Finland, furthering Taiwan-Finland economic cooperation and particularly in the field of quantum technology. At this event, exchanges between the business and academic circles of Taiwan and Finland helped expand the scope and depth of bilateral cooperation in the field of quantum technology, as well as contributed to exploring cutting-edge technologies and their commercial applications.
